POLICIES

There are NO PENALTIES (additional to the registration costs as detailed in the Payment Agreement) for the early voluntary departure or disciplinary departure from FUTSOC. However, any and all outstanding registration and / or training fees (as outlined and agreed-to) must be paid prior to leaving. NO EXCEPTIONS! (i.e. – Early departure from the club due to injury, job transfer, or any other reason does not void the obligation under the agreement. All outstanding monthly installment fees must be paid, prior to being released from the club and the financial obligation to the same.)

Normally, all clubs register players during early summer. Since FUTSOC operates in a more flexible manner – accepting children all year round, the official registration deadline is June 15th. There will be two payment options available for registration with the club (detailed in the Payment Agreement section). Any player registered beyond the June 15th deadline will be considered for membership on an individual basis to be decided by the club director and subject to a potential premium charge.

For those opting for the monthly installment plan for payment of fees to the club, a late fee will be assessed if payments are made more than one week (7 consecutive days) beyond the due dates established. If a payment by credit card or check is returned, this fee is in addition to any bank charges assessed to the clubs account, due to insufficient funds or other cause which may result in your payment being rejected. The late fee amount will be equivalent to 20% of that month’s fee. If fees are not paid within one month past the due date, your child may be withheld from club privileges, including: exclusion from practice, exclusion from tournaments or jamborees, and exclusion from any other club functions.

No Refunds. Payments shall not be refundable under any circumstances, including but not limited to the termination of this Agreement for whatever reason. There is no penalty for early withdrawal from the club, but any payment arrangements must be paid in full before any release is granted.

If an event is cancelled and our club receives a refund, we will provide a refund to all participants registered to that particular event (upon receipt of the refund from the event). There will not be any reassignment of fees to cover other obligations, so that the accounting is simple and organized. (ex: Your son pays $50 for a tournament fee and the event is cancelled, we will refund you the $50 upon receipt of the full refund from the tournament organizers.)

Unforeseen situations arise and we understand that they occur. As such, withdrawing from an event can result in a financial liability to the club. Therefore, as long as the withdrawal occurs at least two weeks prior to the event for which your child was registered, you will receive a full refund of the tournament / event registration fee paid subject to our Refund Policy (above). If withdrawal is made within two weeks of the event there is no refund, since the club has insufficient time to substitute for the player’s absence. Exception to this policy would occur in the event of a family emergency.

Cancellation due to nature's extreme weather is assumed by the participant, without responsibility of the club. Please understand that we have no control over this aspect and as such, there is no rescheduling for this and practice/events are simply cancelled.

I hereby give my consent for photography, filming, videotaping and/or audio recording or other means of capturing my child’s image or voice and/or being quoted in the media or printed materials (including social media websites).

We are a proud club with strong traditions and we are always looking to create the optimal environment for our players, parents and coaches. Negative trends in the current youth soccer environment, have prompted clubs to adopt much stricter rules concerning Player and particularly, Parental/Guardian conduct, at practices and especially at competitions. Currently, youth soccer competitions are suffering from out of control parents, who while meaning well, are adding an element of aggression and ultimately even violence, to a noble sport which is nothing more than a game…and a game for our children! Violence and abuse in youth sports generally has escalated to an alarming level. News reports about parents tackling opposing players to threatening coaches with firearms to physical fights resulting in arrests, seems to be permeating through our youth soccer world…it’s not always fun and games in the world of youth soccer!

Parents play such a significant role in a child’s athletic development, in fact they are single greatest influence in their lives. Coaches are the second most impacting influence on your child’s development and growth, and a major influence not only on their physical development, but their self-esteem, emotional growth and mental stability. Through sports, Coaches spend inordinate amounts of time with children on the fields of play during training and matches and are appreciated as an authoritative and father-like figure in many instances. To this end, soccer’s governing bodies are taking a closer look into this phenomenom, which is having drastically detrimental effects upon our youths, parents, coaches, officials and the game itself! In doing so, they are taking strong measures to supervise and curtail sideline behaviors. Some clubs are being instructed to take greater control of these situations, while others are showing the initiative of responsibly working in conjunction with parents, to halt this most negatively impacting trend immediately! We have established our new Club Member (Parents/Guardians) Conduct Policy, which becomes effective immediately.

At FUTSOC we observe the Zero Tolerance policy. We do not accept any unruly behavior by any parent for any reason on any occasion. This behavior can include, yelling at a player, speaking harshly to a player, questioning the motives of a coach, referee or other game official. There is no tolerance for verbal or written abuse for any reason. Such conduct will be deemed inappropriate and will be handled in the following manner:

  • If the parent exhibits this behavior, the receiving adult will ask the parent to take a moment to become composed. The issue at hand will be talked out in a responsible, calm and coherent manner. If the parent does not adhere to these guidelines then:
    • The parent will be asked to leave the field, meeting, etc. The receiving party will make an attempt to contact that parent to discuss the negative situation and to try to find a rational solution. If the parent still does not adhere to the guidelines set forth,
    • A verbal and written warning will be presented to the adult asking for the negative behavior to end. If the negative behavior continues to exist,
    • The parent will not be allowed at any FUTSOC functions (practices, training, scrimmages, friendlies, games, tournaments) and the Director of Coaching (DOC) and the Board of Directors will be notified.

Furthermore:

For parents that have questions or concerns to share with a coach, discuss them with your respective coach first and then the Program Director and VP of the appropriate age group.

Practices - Parents will wait until the practice session is over before approaching the coach. Competitions - After the game has ended, the parent should ask the team manager to help set up a meeting time and location with the coach. The meeting should take place no sooner than 24-48 hours after the game.

Parents should not shout insults or verbally abuse referees, coaches of either team, opposing team members or parents. Parents should be in control of their emotions at all times, always showing respect and setting a proper example for their own children. Parents that are angry or upset should leave the field until they can get control over their emotions.

Parents will refrain from coaching or shouting instructions from the sidelines. This only causes confusion for the players on the team. So please leave the coaching to the coaches. You have entrusted the care and development of your children to the coaches, so they need to be free to do their job. In order to avoid confrontations with other team parents and maintain team cohesion, parents should also refrain from publicly criticizing the play of other team members.

Parents and players alike will be held responsible for their decisions and actions. If a rule is considered broken by the Directors of fFF Academy / FUTSOC, the following sanctions will apply:

  • 1st Offense: Parent is suspended from being at the field during the next two games of the team and the training sessions until that suspension time is completed and a personal meeting is held (Parent, Child and Club Director) to assert complete understanding for the action taken.
  • 2nd Offense (includes violation of the penalty for the 1st offense): Parent is suspended from attending all games and training sessions for the remainder of the soccer calendar year.
  • 3rd Offense (includes violation of the penalty for the 2nd offense): Both parent and player are expelled from the club.

Ultimately, your child’s well-being and happiness should be the single most important aspect of their participation in soccer. All must learn to respect their child’s activities and help promote their healthy development and love for competition, and ultimately for the sport itself. What you do today will have a long-lasting effect on your child, way beyond the days of youth sports!

Coaches and administrators play a critical role in the academic, athletic and social development of their athletes. They must understand and respect the inherent power imbalance that exists in this relationship and must be extremely careful not to abuse it. Coaches must also recognize that they serve as role models and are conduits through which the values and goals of FUTSOC are channeled not only to their athletes, but the community and the public as well. Thus, how a athlete views his/her club, and how others view our program, is influenced by the behavior of the coach and the leadership.

PURPOSE

The following Code of Conduct has been developed to aid coaches in achieving a level of behavior, which will allow them to assist their players in becoming well-rounded, self-confident, and productive human beings, as well as appropriately reflect the values and goals of FUTSOC.

SCOPE

This policy serves all coaches and staff at FUTSOC.

PROCEDURE

All coaches and staff are expected to comply with the following. Violation of any provision of this Policy will not be tolerated and will be subject to disciplinary action.

  • Treat everyone fairly with respect and dignity within the context of their activity, regardless of gender, place of origin, color, sexual orientation, religion, political belief, or economic status. This includes athletes, colleagues, staff, parents, media, the public and spectators.
  • Direct comments or criticism at the performance rather than the athlete.
  • Consistently display high personal standards and project a favorable image of their sport and of coaching.
  • Refrain from public criticism of fellow coaches.
  • Abstain from the use of tobacco products while in the presence of his/her athletes and discourage their use by athletes.
  • Abstain from drinking alcoholic beverages when working with athletes.
  • Refrain from the use of profane, insulting, harassing, or otherwise offensive language or behavior in the conduct of his/her duties and enforce compliance of all FUTSOC Policies.
  • Consider an athlete's future health and well being as foremost when making decisions regarding an injured athlete's ability to continue playing or training.
  • Treat opponents and officials with due respect, both in victory and defeat, and encourage athletes to act accordingly. Actively encourage athletes to uphold the rules of their sport and the spirit of such rules.
  • Be aware of the academic pressures placed on student-athletes and conduct practices and games in a manner so as to allow academic success.
  • Always place the safety and welfare of student-athletes above all else.
  • At no time become intimately and/or sexually involved with current athletes.
  • Respect the dignity of all others with whom they come into contact; verbal or physical behaviors that constitute harassment or abuse are unacceptable.
  • Never advocate or condone the use of drugs or other banned performance enhancing substances.
  • Always act and carry oneself, both on and off the field, in such a way that will promote and exhibit the principles and purpose of FUTSOC and do nothing to compromise the integrity and dignity of this program.

We are a club based program, therefore anytime a team is in need of additional players, we look first to have guest players from within our program. If the level required is not met within the club, then as we have traditionally done, we approach clubs with a close relationship, in fulfilling those positions. This is all part of the planned development of the players and certain tournaments may require higher level players to assist our existing player base.

If you as a parent are asked to have your child guest play within the club then it's extremely important to make that work for many reasons including but not limited to, being exposed to a different coach, being exposed to different players with different skill levels, etc. It is a good opportunity/experience for your child and it's all part of being part of the club philosophy and program.

GUEST PLAYING OUTSIDE OF THE CLUB

U8-U23: We don't allow guest playing outside of the club.

Team competitions require uniform codes of conduct and dress. Therefore, all players must present themselves to practice in the prescribed Training Uniform. A player attending practice in violation of this dress code will not be allowed to participate in the practice on said date.
