FUTSOC FUTALAN U16 & U18 Open 2021 With Two Exciting Friendlies

FUTSOC Futalan U18 v Parkland FC U19
On January 23rd, our FUTSOC FUTALAN U17/U18 boys visited Parkland FC U19 boys in Parkland, Florida. A most competitive match with action on both ends of the field, the first half ended with a perfect strike goal from left midfielder Camilo Lozano on a beautifully placed cross from captain and striker Agustin Gonzalez at the 25-minute mark. The first half was generally dominated by our younger squad, which stifled all attack runs from our older opponent, limiting them to only one shot on goal and controlling the midfield for the greater portion of the period.
The second half dynamics shifted somewhat, with our most worthy opponent making strong combination runs down the flanks. While more approaches through to our back third were achieved, none were of any great consequence and all attack efforts thwarted. Then toward the 71st minute, after two exciting dribbles through the opponents’ defense, our striker Agustin Gonzalez was taken down forcibly in the penalty box, resulting in a well taken kick by our captain, for the 2 – goal lead. Stronger pressure was placed by the opponent for the remainder of the match, but to no avail, and the final result held, at a convincing 2:0 triumph for our young squad.
Overall, strong play was demonstrated by the defense as well as the midfield and forward attack, with special mentions for the performances of midfielders Camilo Lozano and Rafael Ferrer.

FUTSOC Futalan U16 v Weston Select
On January 30th, our boys U15/16 FUTSOC FUTALAN squad visited Weston Regional Park, for a much anticipated match against crosstown rivals Weston Select.
A game which featured virtual dominance by our team, limited our worthy opponent to only two shots on target for the duration of the match. Conversely, our boys had six on-target opportunities thwarted by the crossbar, missed headers and one on one challenges adeptly covered by their keeper.
The match was only the 2nd one of the season for our young team, but did show great progress from the earlier season performance and provided a great springboard for upcoming friendlies as they prepare for tournament play in March.
